Two People Injured in Millville Pedestrian Accident

Two pedestrians required emergency medical treatment and hospitalization after being seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident on a Millville NJ road.

The car crash occurred a short time before 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of East Broadway and North Second Street in Millville, New Jersey. The two accident victims were in the process of walking across the road when a car reportedly drove through the intersection and struck them.

The motor vehicle immediately stopped and remained at the scene while police officers and emergency crews rushed to the site to assist the victims.

The accident victims were briefly treated at the scene by emergency medical responders and then transported via helicopter to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ. Once the victims got to the hospital, they were treated by medical personnel. Although their conditions have not yet been updated by authorities, it is expected that both victims will survive their accident-related injuries.

Meanwhile, there has been no indication from law enforcement that the motorist who struck the two pedestrians will be cited for any traffic violations or charged with any crimes in connection with the crash.

Dangerous Road Conditions in Cumberland County, NJ

Cumberland County roads can be extremely dangerous during the winter, as the pavement becomes slick with ice and visibility is limited for drivers. That’s why it is crucial that anyone operating a vehicle, or walking, on roads in Cumberland County in the weeks and months ahead exercise caution.

If you are going to be driving in Cumberland County or anywhere else in New Jersey this winter, here are a few tips for remaining safe:

  • Check Your Vehicle Prior to Driving: You do not want your car to stall on the roadway during the coldest months of the year. Make sure that you get your ignition system, fuel system, and brakes checked before you take your car on the roads in the winter.
  • Brake Early and Often: Remember that it will take you more time and distance to slow down when you are driving on a road covered with ice or snow. So drive slowly and be prepared to use your brakes.
  • Do Not Use “Cruise Control”: It can be very tempting to use the “cruise control” option when driving on the highway. However, black ice on the road can come out of nowhere and cause you to lose control of the car – especially if you have activated cruise control.
  • Bring a Cell Phone: Although motorists should never use cell phones while driving, it is a good idea to have a fully charged cell phone with you when driving in the winter. This way, you will be able to call for emergency assistance in the event that you are involved in a car accident or your car breaks down.
