Five People Injured in Ambulance Accident on Middletown NJ Roadway

Authorities are investigating a recent ambulance accident in Middletown NJ that left five people with injuries requiring medical attention.

According to officials, the auto accident went down just a short time after 2:00 p.m. near the intersection of Thompson Avenue and Route 36 in the Leonardo area of Middletown Township, New Jersey. The ambulance, operated by the Leonardo First Aid and Rescue Squad, was traveling along Thompson Avenue and headed toward a local hospital when it crashed into a divider on the roadway. The accident resulted in significant damage to a cement road structure, with parts of the structure crumbling and falling apart after the crash.

The collision also caused injuries to five people. It is unclear at this time whether all five accident injury victims were riding in the ambulance or if some of the accident victims were in other vehicles.

All five people who sustained injuries in the ambulance crash received medical treatment at Riverview Medical Center, which is located in Red Bank, NJ.

Detectives with the Middletown Township Police Department are looking into the motor vehicle accident and attempting to determine exactly what may have caused the crash. Although law enforcement is not revealing a lot of information about the accident, officials have indicated that there were other vehicles possibly involved in the crash.

Regardless of the outcome of the investigation, the individuals injured in the motor vehicle accident may be able to seek compensation for their medical bills, pain and suffering, and other damages by filing personal injury claims against any negligent parties. For instance, if another motorist on the roadway negligently caused the ambulance accident, the injury victims could potentially sue that motorist.
